Zidane appointment has been bad for James, says father

James Rodriguez s father believes Zinedine Zidane s appointment as Real Madrid coach is hurting his son s career in the Spanish capital.

James arrived at Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti in 2014 and enjoyed a fine first season, but his form has dipped as of late and has become the subject of boos from the stands in the Santiago Bernabeu.

However his father, Wilson Rodriguez, says form is always going to fluctuate.

I think it is normal, football s like this, he said.

Injuries play a big part, and make it harder for a footballer to maintain his level.

Despite that, he does not think Zidane has helped his son s cause.

De Gea ´very happy´ at United, unaware of Madrid interest

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea claims he is unaware of reported interest from Real Madrid, insisting he is very happy  at Old Trafford.

De Gea was poised to return home to the Spanish capital last year until his proposed contract was reportedly eaten by a faulty fax machine on deadline day, with the Spain international going on to sign a four-year extension and help United to FA Cup glory.

Madrid have been linked with another bid for De Gea, despite Keylor Navas helping the club to Champions League glory in 2015-16, however, the 25-year-old has no plans to depart Manchester.

I know nothing about Madrid wanting to sign me. I m calm. I have three more years in Manchester, De Gea told Cadena Ser as prepares for Euro 2016, which kicks off in France on Fr…

Warnock issues warning to Gayle

Neil Warnock has told Dwight Gayle he must up his efforts in training if he is to regain his place in Crystal Palace s starting XI.

Gayle moved to Selhurst Park from Peterborough United in July 2013 and has scored six goals in 13 appearances across all competitions for the club this season.

However, the 25-year-old striker has found himself on the periphery of the first team since Warnock returned as manager in August.

The 66-year-old stated that he was unhappy with Gayle s showing when he came off the bench in Saturday s 1-1 Premier League draw with Stoke City.

And with Warnock openly admitting he is searching for a new striker in the January transfer window, Gayle has been given an ultimatum to improve in order to fight for his Palace future.

Remy: World Cup a shop window

France international Loic Remy intends to use the FIFA World Cup as a shop window to earn a move away from QPR.

Remy spent last season on loan at Newcastle United and scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances, but is unsure where his future lies.

Parent club QPR returned to the top flight on Saturday by beating Derby County in the Championship play-off final, but manager Harry Redknapp has suggested the striker will not be at Loftus Road next season.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, and he hopes to impress any interested clubs during the finals in Brazil.

The World Cup is a shop window for me, Remy told L Equipe. Newcastle, to whom I was loaned by QPR, want to buy me.

I don t know if I m going to stay there…
