Messi still wanted by MLS outfit Inter Miami, claims Higuain

Lionel Messi is wanted by MLS side Inter Miami, according to former Argentina team-mate Gonzalo Higuain.

Messi completed a momentous free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in August, with Barcelona being unable to afford a new deal for the Blaugrana great amid financial difficulties.

The Argentina captain enjoyed a cameo against Reims before making his full debut away at Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday, hitting the crossbar in a 1-1 draw.

However, Miami forward Higuain hinted that the door is already open for Messi s potential next move – the second time he has done so after advocating a potential transfer in March.

Don t get me into trouble… I have no idea about Leo [Lionel Messi] in Miami, Higuain told ESPN Argentina.

Amad and Elanga get Premier League debuts as Solskjaer shuffles his pack

Amad Diallo and Anthony Elanga are set to make their Premier League debuts for Manchester United after being named in a much-changed starting XI against Leicester City.

United welcome Leicester to Old Trafford on Tuesday amid a controversially hectic schedule that most recently had them in action on Sunday, and they will play again on Thursday.

The postponement of United s clash with Liverpool is partly to blame, with that game called off after Reds Devils supporters stormed Old Trafford in protests against the club s owners.

Solskjaer has been openly critical of the Premier League s unwillingness to find an alternative solution and acknowledged the packed nature of their schedule this week will require him to make full use of his squad.

While it is a bon…

Today at the World Cup: Spain make strong start

The Women’s World Cup continued with three games taking place on the second day of the tournament.

Spain and Switzerland got their campaigns off to a winning start against Costa Rica and the Philippines respectively.

However, Canada were forced to share the spoils with Nigeria after Christine Sinclair’s spot-kick was saved.

Here the PA news agency takes a look at Friday’s action.

Dominant Spain

Spain started their campaign by easing to a 3-0 victory over Costa Rica.

Valeria del Campo’s own goal was followed by strikes from Aitana Bonmati and Esther Gonzalez in the next six minutes.

Jenni Hermoso also had a penalty saved by Daniela Solera before half-time, meaning that there has been a spot-kick awarded in all five games in the tou…

Sneijder: I had nothing but trouble with Van Gaal on a personal level

Wesley Sneijder has hit out at former Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal over the way he has dealt with players and staff during his career.

The attacking midfielder worked with Van Gaal at Ajax during the latter s time as sporting director before they were reunited with the national team in 2012.

Sneijder has always hailed Van Gaal s coaching abilities, but he is unimpressed with the ex-Manchester United boss interpersonal skills.

I have always said that Van Gaal is the best coach there is, technically and tactically, the Galatasaray ace told Fox Sports.

There is no better coach than Van Gaal.

But I think there is room for improvement when you look at the way he deals with his players and staff.

I had a perfect time with him on the p…

Only Manchester City can prevent Arsenal title win, says Campbell

Sol Campbell says the squad depth of Manchester City is the only thing that could stop Arsenal from winning this season s Premier League.

The Gunners face City in a crucial fixture at the Emirates Stadium on Monday as they continue their bid to end a title drought that has run since the Invicibles team of 2004, of which Campbell was a part.

Arsenal are sitting two points behind shock leaders Leicester City after 16 games, with Manuel Pellegrini s men a further point back in third place.

Manchester United and Tottenham round off the top five, but Campbell – who played for Arsene Wenger s men between 2001 and 2006 prior to a second spell in 2010 – is only worried about City.

City have the bigger squad and when injuries kick in they will have depth, t…

Eriksen´s ´love for the game´ inspiring Denmark as Hjulmand dreams big

Christian Eriksen s love for football brings joy to Kasper Hjulmand, who believes Denmark must set out to win the World Cup.

Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during Denmark s first game of Euro 2020 against Finland in Copenhagen last year.

Denmark s players shielded their team-mate from the eyes of the crowd and cameras as Eriksen received emergency medical treatment.

The midfielder made an incredible recovery and six months later returned to action when he signed for Brentford, having been unable to play for Inter after having a cardioverter defibrillator device fitted.

Eriksen was superb for the Bees and earned a move to Manchester United, where he has made a strong start to the season and is back to spearhead Denmark s bid to go deep into the World Cu…

Goalkeeper Robles joins Leeds United

Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Joel Robles on a free transfer, with the former Everton and Real Betis player joining on a one-year deal.

The 32-year-old Spaniard is effectively a replacement for ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, who departed Elland Road by mutual consent earlier in July.

Robles, who achieved cult status as a member of the Wigan Athletic squad that won the 2012-13 FA Cup against Manchester City during a 13-game spell on loan from Atletico Madrid, was released by Betis after a four-year stint in Andalusia at the end of last season.

He previously spent five seasons at Goodison Park, having followed former Wigan and now Belgium boss Roberto Martinez to Everton, and will provide competition for Illan Meslier at Leeds.
